[\fB-d\fR \fIdomain\fR] \fB-o\fR \fIoutput-directory\fR 14 [ [ \fIsource-file\fR]]... 15 .fi 16 17 .SH DESCRIPTION 18 .sp 19 .LP 20 Use the \fBypmap2src\fR utility to convert standard NIS maps to approximations 21 of the equivalent NIS source files. This utility functions like the reverse of 22 \fBypmake\fR(1M). 23 .sp 24 .LP 25 The primary use for \fBypmap2src\fR is to convert from a NIS server that uses 26 the NIS to LDAP(N2L) transition mechanism, which does not use NIS source files, 27 to traditional NIS, where source files are required. The \fBypmap2src\fR 28 utility is also used by NIS administrators who wish to discover the contents of 29 NIS maps for which the sources are not available. 30 .sp 31 .LP 32 Generally, this operation is not necessary. More often, administrators will 33 switch from traditional NIS to N2L in anticipation of the eventual transition 34 to LDAP naming. When this switch is made, authoritative information is moved 35 into the LDAP DIT, and the NIS sources have no further role. N2L supports NIS 36 clients until such time as they can be converted to LDAP, and the NIS service 37 suspended. 38 .sp 39 .LP 40 The \fBypmap2src\fR utility does not guarantee that the files that are 41 generated are identical to the original NIS source files. Some information 42 might have been thrown away by \fBypmake\fR and cannot be recovered. N2L also 43 might have updated the maps to reflect changes made by LDAP clients. It is 44 essential that the sources generated are checked to confirm no problems have 45 occurred. 46 .sp 47 .LP 48 Per entry comment fields, from existing source files, are not merged into 49 source files generated by \fBypmap2src\fR. If a user wishes N2L to maintain 50 comment information, then the \fBNISLDAPmapping\fR configuration file should be 51 modified so that the comment fields are mapped into LDAP. This will ensure 52 that the comments are visible to native LDAP clients and present in the N2L map 53 files. 54 .sp 55 .LP 56 When \fBypmap2src\fR is run, it will take up-to-date comments from the map file 57 and insert them into the NIS source file generated. 58 .SS "Handling Custom Maps" 59 .sp 60 .LP 61 \fBypmap2src\fR only knows about the standard NIS maps and standard source to 62 map conversion. If an advanced user has changed these, that is, the user has 63 modified the NIS makefile, the equivalent changes must also be made to the 64 \fBypmap2src\fR script. 65 .SH OPTIONS 66 .sp 67 .LP 68 \fBypmap2src\fR supports the following options: 69 .sp 70 .ne 2 71 .na 72 \fB\fB-c\fR\fR 73 .ad 74 .RS 18n 75 Specifies that \fIcustom-map-name\fR should be converted to a source 76 file by running \fBmakedbm\fR \fB-u\fR on it. This is a short cut so that 77 simple custom maps can be handled without editing \fBypmap2src\fR. 78 .RE 79 80 .sp 81 .ne 2 82 .na 83 \fB\fB-d\fR \fIdomain-name\fR\fR 84 .ad 85 .RS 18n 86 Specifies the domain to convert. The \fIdomain-name\fR can be a fully 87 qualified file path, such as \fB/var/yp/a.b.c\fR, or just a domain name, 88 a.b.c\fB\fR. In the latter case, \fBypmaptosrc\fR looks in \fB/var/yp\fR for 89 the domain directory. 90 .RE 91 92 .sp 93 .ne 2 94 .na 95 \fB\fB-o\fR \fIdest\fR\fR 96 .ad 97 .RS 18n 98 Specifies the destination directory for the converted files. A directory other 99 than \fB/etc\fR should be specified. The maps generated are copied to the 100 correct location, \fB/etc\fR, \fB/etc/security\fR or other source directory, as 101 appropriate. 102 .RE 103 104 .sp 105 .ne 2 106 .na 107 \fB\fB-t\fR\fR 108 .ad 109 .RS 18n 110 Specifies that traditional NIS maps, without N2L's \fBLDAP_\fR prefix, should 111 be converted. By default, maps with the \fBLDAP_\fR prefix are converted. 112 .RE 113 114 .SH OPERANDS 115 .sp 116 .LP 117 \fBypmap2src\fR supports the following operands: 118 .sp 119 .ne 2 120 .na 121 \fB\fIsource-file\fR\fR 122 .ad 123 .RS 15n 124 Lists the standard source files to convert. If this option is not given, then 125 all the standard source files, plus any custom files pecified by the \fB-c\fR 126 option, are converted. 127 .RE 128 129 .SH ATTRIBUTES 130 .sp 131 .LP 132 See \fBattributes\fR(5) for descriptions of the following attributes: 133 .sp 134 135 .sp 136 .TS 137 box; 138 c | c 139 l | l . 140 ATTRIBUTE TYPE ATTRIBUTE VALUE 141 _ 142 Interface Stability Obsolete 143 .TE 144 145 .SH SEE ALSO 146 .sp 147 .LP 148 \fBypmake\fR(1M), \fBypserv\fR(1M), \fBNISLDAPmapping\fR(4), 149 \fBattributes\fR(5) 150 .sp 151 .LP 152 \fI\fR
